It’s pretty interesting to see the responses to the poll about going back to the gym. In my previous post How Will You Continue to Fit, I asked if people would go back to exercising and training at the gym or continue to work out from home. There seems to be a range of attitudes, a few different feelings towards it when it comes to fitness. Personally, I’m looking forward to going back to the gym simply because I don’t have the equipment. But I have still been exercising at home to stay healthy, active, and most importantly for me, to stay well.
On one side there were responses that proved going back to gym a necessity and important component in people’s fitness journey. The thought is that that they need the gym to help motivate them. They need the people, atmosphere, and the correct equipment to keep training. Without these things that the gym offers, they have a hard time doing any exercise.
On the other hand, there were responses towards continuing to workout from home for different reasons. One reason that stood out was from someone who explained that they have never exercised at the gym and find the gym to be unnecessary for their workouts and fitness.
I’ve discussed this previously, the idea whether the gym is a luxury or a necessity when it comes to fitness. But I think the short response answer to that discussion and question is that it’s subjective, and quite simply depends on the individual, but just as importantly depends on why one is working on their fitness and what they hope to achieve.
For the purposes of this poll and conversation, I wanted to see if exercising from home or not while the gyms were closed for these last few months has changed people’s minds about it and attitude towards it.
